So could the family maybe see Gigi from where they were or were they totally oblivious to the fact their eight year old had been missing--by the ocean--for ten minutes?

Too far to see us. Seemed oblivious, playing games together. No hugs or wagging fingers. But I only saw two seconds of their reunion before I turned around.
