Great blog and good writing. Easy to read and digest; concise, excellent information on asking and negotiating, and kinda funny in spots too! I had always been very shy about asking anything, but since finding and reading your blog, (among other life events), I'm braver and more confident in the asking. Thanks so much for writing this! Keep us all posted! I look forward to the next exciting event!

Re: http://thedailyasker.blogspot.com/2009/07/88-things-i-discovered.html

asking in writing a.k.a. is a good way to get things done by guys. They like to refer back so they can be sure of what you asked. a friend of mine makes lists for her hubby and tapes a doobie to the bottom. . . when he's done, he gets to smoke (they have a happy marriage.)

Re: http://thedailyasker.blogspot.com/2009/07/88-things-i-discovered.html

OMG your blog is so awesome (by the way on twitter you are dailyasker not thedailyasker) but I'm glad I persisted, I just tweeted this post, I love it!!!

Re: http://thedailyasker.blogspot.com/2009/07/88-things-i-discovered.html

Hey Lou, thanks for the nice words!! thanks for reading!!

Claire, you're right (as usual =).) Especially the second one -- discovered that recently. Sorry I never replied to your last message about coffee -- things were indeed hectic last week. What are you up to this week?

Re: http://thedailyasker.blogspot.com/2009/07/88-things-i-discovered.html

Love the list; love your sense of humor; adore your moxie!
You go, girl! A couple of ideas while reading the list, maybe they are redundant. 1. When asking someone to break the rules, blame it on someone else. For example, you need the receipt but don't have it. You say "I know I need the receipt, I told my husband to save it but I asked him for it and he said he threw it away. Men." Of course, only do this when the salesperson is a woman.
2. Be careful you don't negotiate yourself into a deal you don't want, like taking a job because you got the salary up but you didn't like the way it was handled. Walk away because it will not get better.
